Fujitsu DL3750+ Error E07 | Ribbon Feed Motor Fault
Error code E07 on Fujitsu DL3750+ dot matrix printers indicates a ribbon feed failure. The printer detects excessive drag or absolute stillness in the ribbon gear mechanism during operation.
Common causes
- 1A jammed or poor-quality compatible ribbon cartridge.
- 2Frayed fabric threads from the ribbon wrapped around the main drive pinion.
- 3Ribbon drive motor failure or internal gear slippage.
Solutions
Step 1: Ribbon Cassette Inspection
A vast majority of E07 alarms are caused by twisted or old ink ribbons inside the shell:- Shut off the printer and open the access shield.
- Gently remove the ribbon cassette from its seat.
- Turn the manual tension dial on the ribbon cartridge clockwise. If it is locked or requires severe force to move, replace the cartridge immediately.
Step 2: Inspecting Ribbon Drive Spindle
Sometimes ribbon fibers get wound around the mechanical drive pin underneath the cassette:- Inspect the driving gear pin protruding from the printer frame.
- Check for any shredded fabric, paper particles, or old adhesive residues.
- Power on the printer without a cassette installed. Watch the drive shaft during bootup. If it rotates slightly and does not trigger E07, the error is isolated to a faulty ribbon cassette.
Steps to follow
- 1
Remove Ribbon Cassette
Disconnect the printer's power, open the top cover, and slide out the ribbon cartridge carefully.
- 2
Test Tension Rotation
Manually spin the tension knob on the cartridge to verify the ribbon moves seamlessly without gathering inside.
- 3
Clean Drive Spindle
Verify the drive peg is free of debris. Wipe away excessive dust with a clean, lint-free cloth.

Frequently asked questions
Yes. A worn ribbon can easily fray at the edges, catching inside the cassette gears and blocking the feed motor, triggering the E07 safety stop.
No. Never apply oil or WD-40 to the ribbon feed gears. Liquid lubricants mix with paper dust to form a paste that will permanently seize the mechanism.
